When On High

Peace On Earth Begins With Birth

Our existence here in this physical domain on planet Earth is sacred. How we come into this world sets a major tone for our relationship with the cosmos, our planet, and our people. Our sheer creation and birth is not only a miracle but profound; it is spiritual. Unfortunately we as a modern species in the West have seemed to loose our comprehension to how pivotal and important the process of pregnancy, labor, birth, and subsequence postpartum period are for women, children, and humanity at large.

As our nations have continually technologically developed, especially in the medical industry; pregnancy, birth, and motherhood have have shifted from natural, normal, and healthy to something that must be medically intervened with. We have lost trust in women’s bodies to do the thing they were designed for, assist in the creation of new life. Obviously, medical intervention has saved many women’s lives, but our over reliance on a system that is design for problems can have a tendency to find problems where none are present.

I seek to help empower women to reclaim their own power throughout their entire pregnancy and birth experience. The truth is to have a healthy pregnancy and birth women must take responsibility for their bodies and babies. They must educate themselves intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually in preparation for the life altering experience that is stepping into motherhood. I want women to feel strong, healthy, and confident in themselves that they can bring their child into this world.

I cannot promise you an exact blueprint to your birth experience, but I can promise to stand by you physically, emotionally, and spiritually through whatever decisions you must make for yourself and child. There is a misbalance in the world currently, and women reclaiming the power of their bodies can assist in regaining the balance; for peace on earth truly does begin with birth.

Furthermore, I continue to self educate through reading various books by Ina May Gaskin, Penny Simkin, Suzanne Arms, authors with a focus on indigenous/natural pregnancy and birth, historical texts on midwifery and gynecology, and biomedical textbooks on the physiology of women’s bodies. Being a Doula is rewarding work and I will push myself further in the future to become a Community Midwife.
